As an executive coach and consultant, Kim Frerichs has a passion for developing people’s capacity to encounter the challenges of our time with greater clarity of mind, strength of heart, resourcefulness and agility.
Corporate Management Experience
Kim brings to her work over 12 years of progressive responsibility in management at Boeing, and first-hand knowledge of the mindset and skill transitions involved with progressing into senior management. Early in her career, Kim was responsible for a divisional Diversity program from which she gained valuable experience in facilitating resolution of conflict-laden situations. Participation in the company’s executive development program introduced Kim to coaching as a management tool. Charged with leading a range of company-wide initiatives as her career progressed, Kim demonstrated her ability to help diverse groups of stakeholders find common ground and gain traction on shared concerns. This ‘in the trenches’ experience grounds and informs her work today.
Coaching and Consulting Experience
Since 1999, Kim has been privileged to help leaders around the globe bring their own best forward, as well as bring others together in a way that creates great things. This has fortified her belief that the world needs the unique talents from each one of us, as well as what we can only bring together.
As an external consultant, facilitator, trainer and executive coach, Kim has contributed to the success of a broad range of organizations, including: 3D Corporate Solutions, Baratza, Biomimicry Institute, Campion Foundation, Care Oregon, City of Snoqualmie, CUNY, Eli Lilly, EPA, Evergreen Hosp., Highline College, Microsoft, National Ability Center, NASA, National Park Service, PATH, SAP, Sound Transit, TED Fellows, Uncharted, US Navy, Verizon, and Zumiez.
Kim has logged over 5000 coaching hours, supporting the success and development of leaders at all levels and is known as a keen observer, deep listener and committed learning partner, able to help clients gain the insights, energy and ability to generate new outcomes. Kim is also a “coaches’ coach”, having mentored coaches in training for the Newfield Network, the Institute for Generative Leadership and Walking Your Talk’s Nonverbal Intelligence Coaching Program.
Kim has additionally developed and delivered interactive training engagements, including programs on leading through change and complexity, the generative leadership of teams and organizations, resilience and conversational effectiveness. She co-designed Sound Transit's LEAD program, co-led Newfield’s graduate level coach training program and has served as faculty for Pacific Integral’s Generating Transformative Change program in Africa as well as North America.
Kim has also been invited to design and facilitate small and large-group meetings, including board retreats, team-building engagements, system-wide transition design, strategic planning sessions, and partnership meetings with community stakeholders. She brings the XChange Approach to her design and facilitation of online conversations for exponential outcomes. She has presented on Organizational Resilience - NPS Leadership Conference, Leading Through Complexity - ICASA Conference, Leveraging the Nonverbal - Midwest ICF Conference, and Finding Balance - TEDx Quito Conference.
Professional Training
Kim's extensive educational background includes undergraduate study at Oberlin and the Evergreen State College (BS in psychology), as well as masters level work in education at the University of Washington. In addition, she holds the following certifications:
