Generative Leadership Practices

At the leadership level, bringing an organization’s parts together into an effective, cohesive and synergistic whole requires a team able to hold and strategize on shared organizational promises as effectively as they hold the promise for their own group.

Yet for many managers, the time and attention required by divisional operations tends to develop and reinforce a near-term and internal focus and sphere of engagement. This limits the foresight and breadth of leadership-level thinking and engagement available to an organization facing new challenges in changing times.

This two-day training harnesses the power of practice to help managers look beyond day-to-day challenges and develop the habits that support their capacity as generative leaders. It represents a more abbreviated and focused dive into the practices that support the Generative Leadership of Organizations.

Following introduction to foundational concepts that underlie generative leadership, participants are invited to engage with the role and practice of strategy. This is especially useful for intact management teams who can apply apply the course content to strategic engagement with a real-world challenge, developing leadership-level ‘muscles’ real time.

Most importantly, participants turn their attention to how to bring vision and strategy to life in the real world, outside of a leadership training or retreat. Three areas of individual focus and practice are offered in which to develop new habits for leadership-level thinking and engagement, and participants are invited to identify and commit to the practice(s) most relevant to their situation. Attention is also given to collective practices for leadership-level engagement and consideration of team meeting structures.

As desired, program content and length may be modified to fit a client's needs and interests.
